Philosophy:

We emphasize affordable real food — fresh, certified organic fruits, vegetables & groceries rather than supplements and processed “health foods”. For convenience, we carry some of these & other miscellany. Through our on-line Food Baskets, we strive to deliver our Philosophy to your door.

Support of local organic farming is a main priority of our store. We get as much produce as possible from our family farm, Pfenning’s Organic Vegetables (located between Kitchener and Stratford) as well as other local organic farms. Certified organic farmers throughout Southern Ontario are contributing to this service by growing a wide and diversified selection of local fruits and vegetables.

History:

In 1993, Pfenning's Organic & More - the Store was hardly even a vague idea when Pfenning's Organic Vegetables (the family farm) transferred the Store’s responsibility to their youngest daughter, Almut.

     Almut then turned an out-of-the-barn-operation — selling certified organic produce grown by Pfenning's Organic Vegetables — into a well-balanced, quaint Health Food Store where you can still sense our closeness to our origins.



     Eventually, the Store would include produce & groceries from other local organic farms and suppliers — and from around the world. Outgrowing the barn, in 1996, the Store moved to Baden — our first new location away from the Farm.



     Originally only open 2 days a week when still on the Farm, Pfenning's Organic & More added another day when in Baden, and is now open 5 days a week. In 1998, we moved to our present home in St. Agatha in a brand new décor.



     Pfenning's Organic & More in St. Agatha has come to be known as a major source of local organic produce and many more organic items. Customers can purchase directly in the Store or have their order delivered to their door in our delivery area with our Food Basket Home Delivery Service.



     Entering the Store.



     Almut and Wolfgang take their responsibilities very much to heart. Almut runs the Store and plans the wonderful weekly Food Baskets, while Wolfgang assumes the role of the Food Box contact person and delivery guy. Both maintain close contact to the Farm, where it all started, and where Wolfgang also works whenever possible.
